Situated in the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe, California, this expansive Mediterranean-style residence underwent a comprehensive renovation encompassing architecture, interior design, and landscape design. The project was driven by the evolving needs of a growing family, as the children entered their teenage years, with a strong emphasis placed on health, wellness, and elevated entertaining.

The exterior was thoughtfully enhanced to create a more grand and welcoming main entry, while a complete renovation of the primary bedroom wing introduced newly designed his-and-hers bathrooms and custom closets tailored for long-term functionality and comfort. Additions to the home included a climate-controlled wine cellar with tasting room, a lower-level theater, and a fully appointed wellness suite featuring a gym, massage room, and steam sauna.

Outdoor living spaces were reimagined as a series of resort-style environments. The upper-level exterior includes expansive entertainment areas anchored by a fire feature, a 20-foot custom barbecue island, water features, and a vanishing-edge lap pool with spa. Multiple patios were fully furnished and designed for year-round use, balancing relaxation and social gathering.

All secondary bedrooms were renovated with en-suite bathrooms and custom closets, ensuring privacy and comfort throughout the home. Interior furnishings and select finish palettes were developed in collaboration with Marshall Watson, whose work for the residence was later featured in his most recent book release.

Sustainability was integrated through the addition of solar panels, while the project also required careful coordination with Covenant regulations to maintain architectural integrity and compliance. Exterior furnishings include fully appointed patios and decks.  All exterior lighting was custom designed for the project and hand-fabricated by Hans Duus Blacksmith, providing a modern contrast to the home’s classic Mediterranean architecture.

The result is a timeless yet updated estate—one that honors its traditional roots while introducing modern detailing, wellness-focused amenities, and a refined contemporary sensibility aligned with the homeowners’ lifestyle.
