This project was a full remodel and addition, including complete FF&E specifications and procurement, perched atop a bluff on one of Solana Beach’s most coveted oceanfront streets. Overlooking the Pacific, the home was designed in collaboration with Marshall Watson Interiors, with a shared goal of creating a residence that balanced refined modernity with warmth and livability for a growing family.

The design reimagined the home’s layout to provide each of the three children with their own private bedroom suites, while establishing a distinct upper-level master retreat. The primary suite opens to a rooftop deck, offering sweeping ocean views and coastal breezes—a serene escape designed for relaxation and connection to the landscape.

Indoor-outdoor living was central to the concept. Although the site is minimal in footprint, the home opens on both sides to fully engage the exterior patios, creating seamless spaces for entertaining. Outdoor amenities include a barbecue area, spa, outdoor shower, and curated placements for significant paintings and sculpture, blurring the line between interior and exterior living.

Inside, the original flat ceilings were opened and vaulted, dramatically enhancing the sense of volume, light, and spatial generosity. Interior finishes were intentionally restrained and modern, featuring subtle board-and-batten detailing, meticulously crafted doors, and crisp architectural lines throughout. Every detail was carefully considered to create a home that feels elevated yet effortless—modern, timeless, and deeply connected to its coastal setting.
