This medical office project was designed for San Diego Mobile Doctor, creating a space that balances clinical function with a welcoming, modern atmosphere. While supporting efficient workflows for medical staff, the design embraced the doctors love for surf and it’s culture. Natural wood tones, soft lighting, vibrant colors and patterns and clean architectural lines were used throughout to create an environment to uplift the moods and experiences for the employees and patients. Waiting areas, exam rooms, and support spaces were thoughtfully planned to feel intuitive and uncluttered. Durable, healthcare-appropriate materials were selected without sacrificing warmth or visual interest.

Inspired by the physician’s background as a surfer, the design draws from a surf-inspired palette of light, bright, and calming hues, incorporating blues drawn from the practice’s branding. Expansive, airy spaces were created to elevate the traditional doctor’s visit into a welcoming, spa-like experience. Program elements include a front office and waiting area, consultation offices, procedural rooms, medical technician areas, and management offices.

Artemide lighting is used throughout, with circular lighting forms symbolizing the mobile and nature of the practice. The space is further accessorized with surfboards and cactus elements inside and out, including a dedicated cactus garden designed for meditation and restorative breaks. The concept reflects the full range of services offered by the practice—bridging the environment from ocean to desert—while delivering a light-filled, delightful patient experience.
