Who We Are

FULL SERVICE ARCHITECTURAL & INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIO

Timeless Design. Uniquely Boutique

For over twenty-five years, our Solana Beach studio has been dedicated to creating spaces that stand the test of time — places where design feels effortless, purposeful, and deeply personal. We bring together interior design, architecture, and branding to shape cohesive experiences that reflect both beauty and meaning.

Founded by Jan Solomon, LEED AP, the firm is grounded in a belief that true timelessness comes from restraint, integrity, and connection to place. Jan’s education in Toronto and early immersion in European modernism and Japanese minimalism laid the foundation for a philosophy that values light, proportion, and material honesty.

Our work spans residential, commercial, and hospitality environments, each defined by quiet elegance, enduring relevance and uniquely specific to the client. We design spaces that feel current today and classic tomorrow — rooted in sustainability and refined by craft.

At SIDI, we believe great design is more than aesthetics — it’s a conversation between the built environment and the people who inhabit it. Our role is to listen, interpret, and create spaces that inspire a lasting sense of calm, clarity, and connection.

Our mission is simple: to design with intention, to elevate experience, and to create spaces that resonate long after the first impression.

Jan Solomon

Principal/Interior Designer

Jan Solomon is an interior designer with a deep appreciation for precision, simplicity, and the beauty of well-considered space. Originally from a small town in Canada, Jan studied Interior Design at Toronto Metropolitan University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Waterloo. Her early career in laboratory science instilled in her a love of structure and process — qualities that continue to shape her approach to design today.

For Jan, design is both intuitive and analytical, balancing function with feeling. Her favorite aspect of the process is space planning, where she translates movement and proportion into clarity and calm. Deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetics and the principles of minimalism, her work draws inspiration from modernist masters such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, and Richard Neutra. She especially admires how mid-century design celebrates honesty in materials and connection between interior and exterior.

For the past 25 years, Jan has made her home in the design district on Cedros, where she has cultivated her own “small town” through enduring relationships with local vendors and creative collaborators. This community is an essential part of her practice — a reflection of her belief that meaningful design is built on shared vision and connection.

Outside the studio, Jan finds inspiration in pottery and the meditative process of growing tea plants — pursuits that mirror her design ethos of patience, precision, and quiet beauty.

Esdras Hernandez

Architectural Designer

I’m an architectural designer driven by strong design, visual storytelling, and the craft of turning ideas into clear, buildable documents. As a licensed Architect in Mexico, over the course of my career, I’ve developed deep expertise in BIM, Revit workflows, 3D modeling, and architectural presentations tools I use to communicate design intent with clarity and precision.

My focus on BIM started in college, where I became an early Revit enthusiast and began teaching the platform. That path grew into professional instruction and consulting, including teaching at Ibero University and later supporting large companies in Mexico by training teams on best practices, efficient workflows, and high-quality project delivery in Revit.

Alongside my teaching and consulting work, I’ve contributed to complex projects across multiple sectors. My experience includes interior design and documentation for high-rise residential buildings in New York and Seattle, as well as schematic design, design development, and construction documentation for major hospitality and gaming projects including casinos and hotels such as Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs, Win-River Resort & Casino in Northern California, and Southland Casino in Arkansas.Today, I focus on residential architecture throughout San Diego County, supporting homeowners and teams with thoughtful design and permit-ready plan sets. My local work includes new construction, remodels, additions, and ADUs in communities such as Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, La Jolla, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Poway, combining design sensibility with real-world coordination and code-aware documentation.
